I ran my first 5k and completed it middle of the pack at 29 min. I had a torn labrum in my hip, flat feet, vericose veins, and i am at least a moderate overpronator. So when the update came i tried them on and they feel the same…the difference lies in the inner portion of the shoe under the wave plate…if you look carefully on the older paradox there was only a mini piece of cushioning and tread under the wave plate. The new model has about and 1/8 Of an inch extra material to make the stability last more. The fit to me is the same the new model is a bit heavier. I can run distance in the paradox…i use the brooks pure cadence for speed…btw for a guy my size and age (40) im pretty fast.

Sorry Devon, as I’m in the US I cannot get the Alchemy 14 so I cannot offer my opinion on it. History would tell me it should be a good choice as I ran an ultra in an older pair of Alchemy but, again, I cannot speak on the current model available overseas.

Brad, I’ve used the Inspire and Paradox along with an older but still in good shape Structure and the Asics GT 1000 3. There has been no direct equal to the Nirvana for me.

I too loved the Nirvana and not the Paradox. I have found the Brooks Adrenaline 15 to be a much better substitute to the Nirvana than the Paradox. I am on my second pair and enjoy them. Just make sure you order a wider width (2e) for the Brooks.

I run in the Wave Inspire 10 and am looking to replace them. I pronate and was looking at the Wave Alchemy 14 (sold in Australia) as a replacement. Have you any comments on this model? Mizuno seem to change the model depending where you are in the world as you have mentioned the Alchemy is discontinued.
Thanks

You could just try the wave creation for the fast and responsiveness. You could also try some Nike shoes, like Pegasus 31.

Paradox will make you feel like running into sand or mud.

Thank you for the review (and for all of your reviews on this site). You mentioned that the Wave Nirvana was your preferred shoe until it’s discontinuation. I was a fan of the Nirvana as well, and I’m dealing with a nagging bit of plantar fasciitis; is there a shoe you’ve gravitated toward since the discontinuation of the Nirvava?

Thanks!
